We are looking for an experienced Commissioning Manager to join the owner's team on one of the most significant tailings projects in Australia, a $2 Billion multi-year build in Central NSW. The role is primarily Brisbane office based with periodic travel to site.

The Role

You will sit inside the owner's team, report to the Project Manager, and take full ownership of the commissioning programme across a complex multi-discipline tailings project. You will lead a team of Commissioning Leads and act as the primary point of accountability between the owner and the EPCM contractor, making sure the programme is planned, governed and executed to the standard a Tier 1 operation expects.

Day to day you will work from the Brisbane office Monday to Friday on 10 hour days, with a few days each month on site in Central NSW on 12 hour days. All site travel, accommodation and associated expenses are covered.

You will develop and implement the commissioning strategy, plans and procedures,



then build the governance framework that sits underneath them covering documentation, schedule, risk and interface management. You will review and challenge EPCM commissioning deliverables as the owner's representative, run commissioning review workshops and pre-commissioning inspections, and drive alignment across the project team on strategy, documentation and handover. Coordination with engineering, procurement, construction and operations teams is central to the role, as is reporting progress and risk to senior management. You will also manage and develop the Commissioning Leads reporting to you.

The role suits someone who came up through an engineering background and moved into leadership over the course of their career. Familiarity with major mining company standards and the relevant Australian Standards matters here.

To Be Considered You Must Meet the Following Criteria

A tertiary qualification in Engineering from a relevant discipline.

Substantial experience as a Commissioning Manager on major mining or heavy industrial projects, ideally at the $500M scale or above.

Proven experience on the owner's side managing EPCM contractors in a technical governance capacity.

Demonstrated ability to lead multi-discipline commissioning teams and develop people across disciplines.

Strong working knowledge of commissioning systems, methodologies and industry best practice.

Experience developing commissioning strategies, plans, procedures and handover documentation on capital projects.





Working knowledge of major mining company standards and the relevant Australian Standards.

Based in Brisbane, or willing to relocate prior to commencement.

Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at every level of a project.

An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.

Experience on tailings projects or large bulk earthworks infrastructure will be highly regarded.
