Position: Casual TutorLocation: Kip McGrath Education Centres, New ZealandAbout the Role
This role focuses on delivering high-quality literacy and numeracy tuition, with a strong emphasis on preparing students for the NCEA Literacy and Numeracy Co-requisite Common Assessment Activities (CAA).
You will work closely with students, particularly at the Year 9 and 10 level, to build the essential skills required to meet national standards and successfully achieve their co-requisite qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structured, engaging lessons in literacy and/or numeracy.
- Prepare students for NCEA Literacy and Numeracy Co-requisite Common Assessment Activities (CAA).
- Apply targeted teaching strategies aligned with Year 9–10 curriculum expectations.
- Use the Kip McGrath methodology to build student confidence, independence, and engagement.
- Mark and provide clear, constructive feedback on all student work.
- Adapt teaching programmes based on reassessment data and individual learning needs.
- Build strong relationships with students and families.
- Provide timely and transparent progress updates to parents and caregivers.
- Maintain professional communication with centre managers and team members.
- Uphold high professional and child safety standards at all times.

Essential Requirements
- Proven experience teaching Year 9 and/or Year 10 students, and/or demonstrated experience prepping students for NCEA Literacy and Numeracy Co-requisite Common Assessment Activities (CAA).
- Strong understanding of the Current Zealand Curriculum and NCEA co-requisite standards.
- Demonstrated ability to teach literacy and/or numeracy effectively across a range of abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
- Relevant teaching qualification.
- Ability to meet the requirements of The Children’s Act 2014.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to work collaboratively.
- Availability to work after-school hours and weekends.
