Job Description
To expand our high-quality services nationally to our existing and new clients, we're seeking experienced and well-regarded Senior Environmental Consultants to join our Investigation team.
Working within a team of 10 environmental professionals, you'll take a leading role in delivering contaminated sites projects from inception through to completion. This position offers the ideal balance of technical leadership, project management, career development, field investigations and client engagement.
You will work independently while collaborating closely with colleagues, supporting the development of junior team members and contributing to the ongoing success of the business.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity offering the chance to work on diverse and engaging projects.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and deliver contaminated sites investigations, assessments and remediation projects
- Coordinate and supervise field investigations, including drilling, sampling, remediation activities and contractor management
- Manage projects from inception to completion, including budgets, schedules, quality and client expectations
- Prepare and review high-quality technical reports, risk assessments and management plans
- Develop fee proposals, technical scopes and tender submissions
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for business growth
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior consultants
- Interpret complex environmental data and develop practical, risk-based solutions
- Liaise with clients, regulators, contaminated site auditors, contractors and other stakeholders to achieve project outcomes
- Contribute to continuous improvement and technical excellence within the team

The Opportunity, Where You Come In:
Talis' Investigations team has extensive experience in a wide range of contaminated site investigations, including soil and groundwater assessment and remediation, PFAS, mine site closure, asbestos and hazardous materials, acid sulphate soils, landfill gas, risk assessment, geochemistry, geology, and hydrogeology.
About the Candidate
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in contaminated sites consulting, with a commitment to obtaining or maintaining EIANZ Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) status.
- Experience in asbestos and hazardous materials assessment and management, ideally up to Licensed Asbestos Assessor (LAA) level.
- Strong track record managing environmental investigation and remediation projects, supported by excellent professional references.
- Mine site experience in either operational environments or mine closure projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in planning, coordinating, and delivering complex technical investigations.
- Proven experience preparing and reviewing high-quality technical reports and regulatory submissions.
- Ability to effectively manage project budgets, schedules, and resources.
- Strong understanding of contaminated sites legislation, guidelines, and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience applying:
- WA, QLD, or NSW Contaminated Sites Guidelines.
- PFAS National Environmental Management Plan (NEMP).
- National Environment Protection (Assessment of Site Contamination) Measure (NEPM).
- Experience undertaking hydrogeological, acid sulphate soil, and geotechnical investigations.
- Understanding of contemporary contaminated land remediation techniques.
- Experience applying Source-Pathway-Receptor (SPR) modelling principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Current driver's licence and willingness to undertake fieldwork and occasional travel.
- Permanent Australian residency or unrestricted Australian working rights.
