We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our clients Group Finance team. This is an excellent chance for someone looking to build on their accounting experience in a supportive environment while gaining exposure across a broad range of finance functions.
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will play an integral role in ensuring the smooth operation of the finance department by supporting month-end processes, reconciliations, reporting, payroll, and day-to-day accounting activities.
About the Role
As the Assistant Accountant, your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with month-end close, including journals, prepayments, accruals and adjustments
Performing bank, credit card, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
Processing financial transactions including capital expenditure, rebates and intercompany recharges
Maintaining the fixed asset register and processing related journals
Supporting Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and payroll functions using both Exflow and Wiise
Assisting with audit preparation and compliance requirements
Preparing monthly and quarterly rebate calculations
Ensuring accurate GST and tax coding
Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and internal controls
Providing ad hoc finance support as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A tertiary qualification in Accounting or Bookkeeping
Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance position
Strong reconciliation and general ledger experience
Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A proactive approach and willingness to support the wider finance team
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills are highly desirable
Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Exposure to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and payroll
Experience with month-end reporting and audit preparation
