Principal Consultant - Landscape Restoration & Water Systems
This role will lead and expand Alluvium Consulting's mine closure water management and landform design capability across Australia. Working closely with our established waterways, hydrology and ecology teams, you will provide technical leadership on mine closure projects while developing new client relationships and growing our presence within the resources sector. The successful candidate will help build a nationally recognised practice focused on delivering practical, science-based mine closure solutions that improve environmental outcomes while meeting regulatory and operational objectives.
- Leading technical delivery of mine closure water management and landform design projects.
- Developing new business opportunities and strengthening relationships with mining clients across Australia.
- Building and growing Alluvium's mine closure service offering.
- Working collaboratively across the Alluvium Group to integrate geomorphology, hydrology, ecology, geochemistry and engineering.
- Mentoring staff and developing technical capability within the business.
- Representing Alluvium through industry engagement, conferences and technical publications.
Principal Consultant—We're looking for someone with the following attributes:
- Degree in Civil, Environmental or Mining Engineering (or related discipline).
- Demonstrated experience in mine closure planning and design and/or landscape rehabilitation.
- Robust understanding of surface water management, landform evolution and erosion processes.
- Experience designing stable mine landforms, drainage systems and rehabilitation strategies.
- Practical knowledge of mine closure regulations and completion criteria across Australian jurisdictions.
- Ability to integrate hydrology, hydraulics, geomorphology, ecology and engineering into practical closure solutions.
- Strong client relationship and business development skills with an established network in the resources sector.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and deliver complex projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for mentoring staff and building technical capability.
Details:
- The role will ideally be based in our Queensland team (Townsville / Brisbane office), however other locations would be considered. We do, and always have, offered flexible working arrangements.
- Remuneration is commensurate with skills and experience and subject to negotiation.
- An important part of our business is its ownership structure. Currently we have almost 50% of our staff as owners in the business and with a philosophy of increasing disbursement to create further ownership opportunity.
