Family Lawyer (3-5 PAE)
Are you a family lawyer who is ready for the next stage of your career?
Have you built a solid foundation in family law and now want the chance to develop greater autonomy, strengthen your professional judgment and progress within a high-performing family law practice?
Do you want meaningful work, genuine responsibility and experienced practitioners around you who will support you to become an exceptional family lawyer?
If you have around 3–5 years PAE, care deeply about your clients and your work, and are looking for a firm where your career can genuinely progress, our Family Lawyer position could be your perfect fit.
Family Lawyer – about the role
At Allegra Family Lawyers, we know there comes a point in your career when you are looking for more than simply gaining experience.
You want to build on the foundations you have developed, take greater ownership of your matters, sharpen your strategic judgment and start defining the kind of lawyer you want to become.
We want to help you do that.
Working alongside experienced family lawyers, you will manage and contribute to a broad range of family law matters, with exposure across parenting, property, financial and other family law issues.
You will have meaningful involvement with clients and responsibility for progressing matters, including client conferences, advice, correspondence, negotiations, drafting, court preparation and appearances.
You will be trusted to take ownership appropriate to your experience, while still having access to experienced practitioners when you need guidance, another perspective or someone to test your thinking with.
For us, progression does not mean simply giving you more files.
It means helping you develop the judgment, confidence, technical capability and client skills required to operate at the next level.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, communicates well, exercises sound judgment and genuinely wants to keep improving.
You should be comfortable taking responsibility while also recognising when to ask questions, seek another view or collaborate with the broader team.
Family law also requires more than technical ability.
Our clients are often navigating some of the most difficult periods of their lives. They need lawyers who can combine strong legal skills with empathy, clarity, commercial awareness and practical judgment.
If that sounds like the way you practise, you will fit well with us.
Your career progression
We want this role to be a meaningful next step in your career.
You will receive genuine mentoring, supervision and feedback from experienced practitioners who are invested in your development, while also being given the space and trust to develop your own professional judgment and style.
As your capability grows, so will your autonomy, responsibility and opportunities within the practice.
We want to understand where you want your career to go and help you develop the skills and experience required to get there.
Whether your next goal is becoming a more confident advocate, handling increasingly complex matters, strengthening your strategic and technical skills, developing your own client relationships or progressing into a more senior position, we want to support that development.
We are looking for someone who wants to build something over the longer term — not simply find their next job.
What we offer
At Allegra Family Lawyers, your growth matters to us.
You will receive a remuneration package reflective of your experience and capability.
More importantly,
you will have the opportunity to develop your career within a high-performing family law practice that takes career development seriously.
You will have meaningful work, quality supervision, ongoing professional and personal development, and experienced people around you who are prepared to share their knowledge.
You will also have the opportunity to take genuine ownership of your work and build greater autonomy as you progress.
We know that great lawyers perform best when they are supported and trusted. We offer hybrid work-from-home and office flexibility, generous leave entitlements and a supportive workplace culture that respects your time and your life outside of work.
This is not simply a role where you come to work, manage files and go home.
It is an opportunity to take the foundations you have already built and turn them into the next stage of a career in family law that you can be proud of.
What you will need
We are ideally looking for a family lawyer with around 3–5 years PAE.
But please do not count yourself out if you have less.
Years of experience are only one measure of where someone is in their career. If you have developed strong foundations in family law, are ready for greater responsibility and believe you have the capability and drive to step into this role, we encourage you to apply.
You will also need:
a current Australian Practising Certificate (or the ability to obtain one promptly); and
a valid driver's licence with access to a vehicle.
Your years of experience are only part of what we are looking for.
Your character, judgment, work ethic, approach to clients and desire to keep developing matter just as much.
If you are ready for greater responsibility, want a genuine opportunity to progress and are looking for a firm that will invest in the next stage of your career, we want to hear from you.
You are welcome to reach out to Vee for a confidential conversation or coffee chat, simply apply here,
As you would expect, all enquiries and applications will be handled confidentially.
