Experienced Duty Manager | Starting at $82K + Super | Fixed Days Off
A rare opportunity has become available for an experienced Duty Manager to join the leadership team at the Southport Surf Club in Main Beach—with the beach less than a minute from work.
We are one of the busiest hospitality and club operations on the northern Gold Coast, with a high-volume bistro and dining operation at the heart of our business, together with a busy bar, gaming room and beachfront café.
Starting at $82,000 plus superannuation, this permanent full-time position offers a 38-hour week, five weeks’ annual leave, fixed days off on the current roster and a $25 food allowance on each day worked.
This is a genuine all-round Duty Manager role for someone with strong food and beverage experience who enjoys leading from the floor and understands how a busy restaurant, bar, gaming room and front-of-house operation work together.
Just as importantly, we are looking for someone who is friendly, engaging and approachable. Our Duty Managers are visible throughout the venue, build positive relationships with members and guests and work alongside the team when the Club is at its busiest.
About our business
Our business operates across two busy beachfront hospitality venues:
• The Southport Surf Club, incorporating our high-volume bistro and dining operation, bar, 45 gaming machines and member facilities. The Club operates seven days a week—10am to 11pm Sunday to Wednesday and 10am to midnight Thursday to Saturday.
• The Pavilion Café, our popular beachfront café, operating seven days a week from 6am to 2.30pm. The Pavilion has its own experienced Manager and Assistant Manager.
We have an established leadership team, a great group of people and a workplace where experienced managers are trusted to make decisions, contribute ideas and have a genuine voice in how the business operates.
About the role
As Duty Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Southport Surf Club while on shift.
The position has a strong focus on our busy bistro and dining operation while also overseeing the bar, gaming room and broader front-of-house team.
You will lead from the floor, support the team and ensure our members and guests receive the fast, friendly and qualified service for which the Club is known.
You will also work collaboratively with the Pavilion Café Manager and Assistant Manager, providing operational support when required.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Leading our bistro, dining, bar, gaming and front-of-house operations while on shift
• Being visible and engaging with members, guests and employees throughout the venue
• Supporting the team and providing clear direction throughout each service
• Maintaining fast, friendly and professional customer service
• Training, mentoring and developing team members
• Responding confidently to customer concerns and operational matters
• Maintaining a safe, welcoming and well-presented venue
• Managing cash handling, opening and closing procedures
• Ensuring the appropriate security and control of cash, stock, gaming machines and Club assets
• Maintaining responsible service, gaming, AML/CTF and workplace safety standards
• Supporting Club promotions and communicating them confidently to members and guests
• Working collaboratively with the Pavilion Café management team
• Contributing ideas and helping us continually improve the business
About you
We are looking for someone with genuine Duty Manager experience, strong food and beverage knowledge and a naturally friendly and engaging personality.
You will understand the demands of a busy dining service and be comfortable moving between the restaurant, bar, gaming room and broader front-of-house operation.

You will bring:
• Previous experience as a Duty Manager in a busy club, hotel or hospitality venue

• The ability to remain calm, organised and decisive under pressure
• Sound judgement and a willingness to take responsibility
• A professional approach and appropriate discretion when handling employee, member and business matters
• The ability to work effectively as part of an established leadership team
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
• Availability to rotate across day and evening shifts, including weekends and public holidays
