The role:
We are looking for a process operator to join the Broadwater production team on theFilter Evaporator Station.
This role is responsible for the operation of the evaporator vessels, juice clarifier and mud handling equipment in a food factory producing raw sugar.
The evaporator station equipment incorporates numerous vacuum vessels (evaporators), numerous pumps of differing designs, a mud handling plant and other sugar cane juice processing equipment.
Full training will be provided.
Reporting to the shift supervisor, the evaporator station operator will:
prioritise, monitor and control the operation of the evaporators, juice clarifier and mud handling equipment
maintain the required processing conditions to achieve consistent production of concentrated cane juice




Meet production targets while upholding secure operating procedures
operate a range of equipment (vacuum vessels, pumps, processing systems)
This position works on acontinuous rotating shift rosterduring the crushing season (June to December).
During the maintenance season (January - June), work hours revert to day work Monday to Friday 8 hours per day, however following a 9-day fortnight pattern.
An attractive remuneration package including 5 weeks annual leave is offered with the position.
We are looking for:
Previous experience operating process equipment in a food or manufacturing facility (desired, not essential)
Trades skills are desirable and complementary for use during non-crush maintenance period
Mechanical aptitude
High level reasoning ability and able to make decisions based on judgement and skill
High level communication skills both written and verbal
The ability to monitor and control several processes simultaneously
Initiative and demonstrated ability to learn
General computer skills, including the use of a computerised operator interface to control process equipment (or ability to learn)
Flexibility to work rotating shift roster and be available for overtime
