About the role
TML Transport is seeking an experienced
Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
to join our growing team in Welshpool, WA. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work on a diverse range of heavy vehicles and specialized transport equipment. You will play a critical role in maintaining our fleet to the highest safety and operational standards, ensuring our vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant with all regulatory requirements. This position is based in office at our Welshpool facility, where you will be an integral part of our maintenance and repair operations. Above award wage on offer and is negotiable based on experience.
Key responsibilities
Diagnose, service, and repair heavy vehicles including trucks, prime movers, trailers, and related transport equipment
Perform scheduled maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups, and general inspections
Conduct thorough fault diagnosis using diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge to identify mechanical and electrical issues
Execute complex repairs to engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, and hydraulic systems
Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all vehicle maintenance and repairs completed
Ensure all work is completed in compliance with relevant safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory requirements
Inspect vehicles prior to and following repairs to ensure quality workmanship and vehicle roadworthiness
Identify potential issues during inspections and communicate recommendations to management
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment
Assist with fleet management initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement in maintenance practices
What we're looking for
Current Heavy Vehicle Mechanic certification or trade qualification relevant to the automotive trades industry
Minimum 3 years' qualified experience working on heavy vehicles, including trucks, prime movers, and trailers
Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and computer-based vehicle diagnostic systems
Strong knowledge of engine systems, braking systems, transmission, suspension, and hydraulic systems specific to heavy vehicles
Ability to read and interpret, service manuals, and manufacturer specifications
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical faults
Proven track record of working safely and responsibly in a workshop environment
Solid organisational skills and attention to detail in completing service records and documentation
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Current driver's licence (Class C minimum) is desirable
Experience with fleet maintenance or working for transport operators is highly valued
