As we continue to scale globally, we are now looking for an experienced and commercially minded Head of Finance to join our HQ team in Newstead, Brisbane.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Head of Finance is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial function across VRG GRL's Australian and international operations. Reporting to the Co-CEO (Growth & Organisational Strategy), this role combines strategic financial leadership with hands-on operational oversight.
You will lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, and commercial financial analysis, ensuring leadership has accurate, timely, and decision-ready financial visibility to support scalable global growth.
This role is suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced founder-led environment, enjoys balancing strategic thinking with execution, and is passionate about building structure, accountability, and commercial clarity across a growing business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
Lead annual budgeting processes across all entities and departments
Build and maintain rolling financial forecasts and cash flow models
Develop scenario modelling across inventory, sales, margin, freight, and operational planning
Partner with leadership teams to improve forecasting accuracy and commercial decision-making
Translate strategic initiatives into financial plans and investment analysis
Monitor business performance against budgets and forecasts
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
Own short and medium-term cash flow forecasting
Monitor inventory investment, margin trends, payment timing, and operational cash requirements
Provide proactive visibility on financial risks and capital requirements
Support founders with strategic and commercial financial decisions
Improve working capital discipline across the business
Commercial Finance & Business Partnering
Provide financial insights across product, marketing, operations, and international growth initiatives
Support pricing, margin, inventory, and profitability analysis
Partner closely with Merchandising and Operations on inventory planning and stock investment decisions
Support strategic planning, investment analysis, and business case development
Build reporting frameworks that improve visibility and accountability across departments
Oversee month-end close processes and management reporting standards
Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, reconciliations, and controls
Support audit, tax, and compliance requirements across AU and international entities
Continuously improve reporting quality, consistency, and financial visibility
Finance Team Leadership
Lead and mentor the finance team across accounting and transactional finance functions
Build accountability, ownership, and operational structure within the finance function
Improve workflow management, prioritisation, and reporting cadence
Support capability development and contribute to shaping future finance team structure as the business scales
ABOUT YOU
8-12+ years experience across commercial finance, FP&A;,
financial management, or finance leadership roles
Experience within retail, ecommerce, wholesale, consumer goods, or inventory-heavy businesses
Strong commercial finance, forecasting, and cash flow management capability
Proven experience building budgets, rolling forecasts, and financial models
Strong understanding of inventory, margin, and working capital management
Comfortable operating within fast-paced founder-led businesses
Robust leadership capability with the ability to create accountability and operational clarity
Able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify financial information for non-finance stakeholders
CPA or CA qualified preferred
Experience with Xero, Shopify, inventory systems, and reporting tools highly regarded
