Ma & Company Solicitors is seeking a skilled and dedicated Civil Litigation and Family Lawyer to join our esteemed legal practice in Sydney. This is a full-time position based in Sydney CBD, offering the opportunity to work with a team of experienced legal professionals in the dynamic field of litigation and dispute resolution. In this role, you will provide expert legal advice and representation to clients across both civil litigation and family law matters, playing a critical part in delivering justice and resolving complex disputes for our diverse client base.
Key responsibilities
Provide comprehensive legal advice to clients on civil litigation and family law matters, including contract disputes, property disputes, commercial disagreements and family law proceedings:
Handle family law matters including divorce, property settlement and spousal maintenance disputes
Prepare detailed case strategies and legal submissions for court proceedings and alternative dispute resolution processes
Conduct legal research and prepare written advice on relevant legislation, case law and procedural requirements
Represent clients in negotiations, mediation, arbitration and court hearings at various levels
Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, affidavits, contracts and court correspondence
Manage client relationships, maintaining regular communication and ensuring client satisfaction throughout legal proceedings
Collaborate with colleagues on complex matters and contribute to the development of best practice within the firm




Maintain accurate case files and billing records in accordance with firm procedures and professional obligations
Communicate with Counsels, the other side and clients from time to time
What we're looking for
Admission to practise as a lawyer in New South Wales
Minimum 2-3 years' post-admission experience in civil litigation and/or family law practice
Strong knowledge of civil procedure, evidence law, family law principles and court practice rules
Demonstrated experience in preparing cases for trial and conducting court advocacy
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly to clients and colleagues
Proficiency in legal research and case analysis, with familiarity with legal databases and technology
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters concurrently
High ethical standards and commitment to professional responsibility and client confidentiality
Cooperative approach to working within a team environment whilst maintaining the ability to work independently
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify practical solutions to complex legal issues




Experience in alternative dispute resolution processes such as mediation and arbitration is advantageous
