ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Join the Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS) at WASH House and play a vital role in supporting women and children experiencing domestic and family violence across the Nepean and Blue Mountains and Northwest Sydney areas.
As a DFV Specialist Worker, you'll provide trauma-informed intake, risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy, court support, and referrals while working closely with Police, courts, Legal Aid, and community partners.

ABOUT YOU
You're a compassionate, organised,



and resilient practitioner with experience supporting people impacted by domestic and family violence or working in the community services sector. You bring a strong understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based, and feminist practice, and are confident working with women in crisis while building trusted relationships with partner agencies. You're an effective communicator who thrives in a cooperative environment and is committed to advocating for the safety, dignity, and rights of women and children.
Relevant qualifications in social work, community services, psychology, or a related field and/or commensurate experience.
Demonstrated experience of minimum 2 years in community services work.
Strong alignment with WASH House Vision and values and commitment to overall advancement and representing WASH House positively.
Commitment to working within a feminist framework and understanding of social policy and issues that face women in Western Sydney.
Understanding of domestic and family violence, its complexities and consequences;
Understanding of intersectionality between social issues and domestic and family violence, in particular the barriers that women may face when seeking assistance;
Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice response to domestic and family violence;




Ability to take a person-centred and non-judgemental approach when working with clients;
Commitment to working within a feminist framework and understanding of social policy and issues that face women in Western Sydney.
Ability to work with the local community to promote awareness of domestic and family violence and WDVCAS services;
Excellent communication skills, particularly in negotiation, advocacy and conflict resolution;
Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with clients in crisis and provide appropriate, trauma-informed support;
Excellent organisational and administrative skills
Current driver's licence and willingness to use own car.
Experience in advocacy work within legal, court, or multi-agency environments.
Experience in Domestic and Family violence.
