What you'll do
Develop large-scale platform products and services that are utilized by Roku engineers across the organization and directly by consumers on millions of devices.
Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to evolve software, guiding concepts from initial ideas through to production deployment and ongoing support.
Spearhead initiatives to assess new technologies and advocate for best practices throughout the software development lifecycle, including conducting code and design reviews.
Oversee project priorities, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful completion.
Engage in the Agile development process, which encompasses scoping, technical design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance of applications.
Requirements
A solid background in software development, with a strong preference for Java (Python experience is a plus).
Proven expertise in constructing large-scale cloud services, particularly using AWS.




Ability to select appropriate data storage solutions and analyze the trade-offs involved.
Familiarity with in-memory caching solutions such as Redis, Redis Cluster, or Memcached.
Experience in monitoring deployment quality and troubleshooting issues in production systems.
Comprehensive understanding of web architecture, from the end-user device to services hosted in data centers.
A Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have
Familiarity with AI tools and automation processes, particularly in utilizing AI for enhancing workflows and productivity.
Experience in working with agentic engineering toolchains and coding harnesses like Claude Code or Cursor.
Skills & tools
Proficient in Java and AWS, with a solid understanding of cloud service architecture.
Strong analytical skills to assess and implement data storage solutions effectively.
Experience with Agile methodologies and practices.
Knowledge of monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques for production systems.
Familiarity with in-memory caching technologies.
