The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities.
The Family Violence Services in Queensland offer place‐based, outreach and co‐located services for victim‐survivors of domestic violence, providing crisis responses, case management, therapy and specialist recovery services for children and young people.Role OverviewAs a Social Work Student, you will undertake a placement focused on supporting the family‐violence team.
The placement is for a fixed term, designed to meet the competency requirements of your tertiary studies, and is suitable for students in their second placement or with relevant work experience.Key ResponsibilitiesShadow experienced Specialist Family Violence Practitioners and other team members.Meet with your placement supervisor regularly to plan and discuss required activities and receive supervision to meet professional development capabilities.Observe and support programmes and activities,
providing practical assistance to ensure smooth operation.Assist with administrative support tasks.Maintain confidentiality of interactions and information.Keep children safe by always abiding by the Salvation Army's child‐safe policies and code of conduct.Qualifications and SkillsCurrently enrolled in a recognised tertiary educational institute or RTO and have entered into a formal placement agreement with the Salvation Army.Strong interest in the challenges and opportunities of the Family Violence Services.Valuable knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.Other RequirementsBackground checks are mandatory: a Working with Children Check, a Working with Vulnerable People Check and a Police Check are required.Volunteer roles may also require a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.Suitable for students with a short‐term commitment of up to 38 hours per week for a period of no longer than 2 months.Equal Opportunity StatementThe Salvation Army is an Equal Opportunity Employer that values diverse talent.
