About The Team
The Queensland Youth Cancer Service (QYCS) provides expert care to adolescents and young adults (AYAs) aged between ***** years of age with cancer.
The service specialises in diagnosis, treatment and psychosocial support for young people and their families.
The service supports treatment across public and private settings with partner site teams located in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Townsville and statewide telehealth options.
The QYCS is a joint state and federally funded initiative that works in partnership with the QYCS Statewide Team and partner sites.
The overarching governance is provided by Children's Health Queensland as the primary fund holder for the Queensland Youth Cancer Service and reports to the Director, Oncology Services Group.
The Oncology Services Group includes the Oncology Service, Blood and Marrow Transplant Service, Haematology Service and the Paediatric Palliative Care Service.
The Oncology Service has dedicated consultant teams focussing on Leukaemia, Lymphoma and Bone Marrow Transplant; Solid Tumours and Neuro‐oncology; Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care and non‐malignant Haematology.
Consultant medical staff are supported by junior and middle‐grade medical staff, including specialist training fellows in paediatric oncology.
About The Role




The position of Clinical Fellow – Queensland Youth Cancer Service is a new, temporary role that will provide essential medical services to adolescent and young adults (AYAs) aged 15 to 25 years diagnosed with or undergoing treatment for cancer across Queensland.
This Position Will
Have the opportunity to work with oncology clinical teams across Queensland Children's Hospital (QCH) and Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH).
Deliver medical services in the treatment planning and care of AYA cancer patients which involves regular PAH OPD clinics and attendance at treatment and psychosocial planning MDT meetings as relevant.
Deliver medical services through participation in clinical duties at Fellow level and in accordance with the policies, practices and Values of the Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service.
Demonstrate commitment to evidence‐based practice, research and quality improvement activities, including morbidity and mortality meetings and other clinical audits and clinical risk management activities.
Assist in the professional development of junior medical staff and the training of medical and allied health students.
