Role Description

The Dry Vac Operator role is a full-time, on-site position based in Sydney, NSW. The Dry Vac Operator will operate vacuum excavation equipment to safely expose underground services, remove debris, and support earthworks on construction sites. Day-to-day tasks include conducting pre-start inspections, setting up and operating dry vac units, following site safety procedures, and assisting with general labor as required. The role involves working closely with site supervisors and other team members to ensure work is completed efficiently, safely, and to specification. The Dry Vac Operator is also responsible for basic equipment maintenance, cleanliness of the work area,



and accurate completion of job-related documentation.

Qualifications
Experience operating vacuum excavation or similar heavy equipment in a construction or civil environment.
Solid understanding of secure work practices, including awareness of underground services, traffic management, and use of personal protective equipment.
Ability to read and follow site plans, job instructions, and safety guidelines, with attention to detail and situational awareness.
Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling tasks in outdoor, variable weather conditions.
Valid driver’s license; HR or higher class license and relevant plant operating tickets are highly regarded.
Effective communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, clients, and co-workers on busy construction sites.
Previous experience in civil construction, utilities locating, or earthworks is advantageous.
Commitment to punctuality, reliability, and maintaining equipment and work areas to a high standard.
