We are proud of the incredible work our employees do providing support, giving hope, and providing opportunities for a better life.About The RoleAs a Welfare Officer, you will work closely with detainees to assess their needs, provide support, and facilitate access to services that promote wellbeing, engagement, and positive outcomes.This is a full‐time position based at the Melbourne Immigration Detention Centre (MIDC) in Broadmeadows.The role operates on a six‐week rotational roster, with 12‐hour shifts from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
You will work 7 shifts per fortnight,
providing a balanced work schedule while ensuring continuous support for detainees.Key responsibilities include:Deliver evidence‐based assessments and welfare interventionsDevelop and regularly review individual care plansSupport detainees in building life skills and social capacityEnsure access to culturally specific services and programsMaintain accurate case notes and timely reportingCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the facilityRespond to emergency situations and attend debriefs when requiredSupport drug and alcohol testing procedures where relevantKey Requirements:You're compassionate, reliable, and bring a solutions‐focused approach to your work.
