Hand Therapist (Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist)Warrnambool Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery – Ballarat VICWPRS is seeking a passionate and experienced Hand Therapist to join our dynamic team at a recent location in Ballarat.
As a Hand Therapist, you will play a crucial role in providing specialised care and rehabilitation to patients with upper limb conditions and injuries.
This is a full-time position, offering the opportunity to work in a collaborative and supportive environment.A key feature of this role is working alongside our Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons within a multidisciplinary clinical model.
Our hand therapy service is integrated with surgical care at WPRS, providing direct access to surgical expertise, coordinated treatment planning, and seamless patient pathways from injury through to rehabilitation.What you'll be doingEvaluate and assess patients with upper limb conditions and injuries, developing comprehensive treatment plans to promote recovery and restore functionProvide hands-on treatment techniques such as splinting, manual therapy, and exercise prescriptionWork closely with our Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons within a joint multidisciplinary clinic model to ensure streamlined, coordinated, and timely patient careCollaborate with occupational therapists, physiotherapists,
and surgeons to deliver holistic management and optimise patient outcomesEducate patients on the management of their condition and empower them to actively participate in their rehabilitationMaintain accurate patient records and documentation, adhering to professional and legal standardsParticipate in continuous professional development to stay up to date with the latest evidence-based practices in hand therapyWhat we're looking forDegree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy, with a strong interest and experience in hand therapyRegistration with the appropriate professional body (AHPRA) and a minimum of 2 years' experience in a hand therapy or upper limb rehabilitation settingExcellent clinical assessment and treatment skills, with a deep understanding of upper limb anatomy and pathologiesStrong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, surgeons, and the wider multidisciplinary teamCommitment to providing high-quality, patient-centred care, and a passion for continuous learning and professional developmentAbout usOur Hand Therapists work in close partnership with our Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, offering patients a truly integrated model of care that spans assessment, surgery, and rehabilitation.
