Assistant Minister - Youth and Young AdultsTOMS Anglican ChurchLocation: Cranebrook, NSWLocation type: On-SiteDate advertised: 30th July ****Job Type: Full timeClosing Date: 31st August ****TOMS Anglican Church is seeking a godly, relational and mission-minded Assistant Minister to lead our youth and young-adult ministries and contribute to the preaching, pastoral care and leadership development of our growing church.Located in Cranebrook and serving the surrounding communities of Castlereagh, Jordan Springs and Ropes Crossing, TOMS is a warm, evangelical Anglican church committed to reaching the lost and making disciples from the 'Ropes to the River'.
We gather across two Sunday services and have significant opportunities to connect with children, teenagers and families through our local community and SRE ministry in seven schools.We are looking for someone who loves Jesus, teaches the Bible faithfully and is passionate about helping young people become mature disciples of Christ.This person will work closely with the Senior Minister and ministry team to strengthen existing ministries, develop leaders and help TOMS reach the next generation.The RoleThis is a permanent, full-time position commencing in January ****.The Assistant Minister will have primary responsibility for youth and young-adult ministry, including:Providing spiritual, pastoral and strategic leadership for our youth and young-adult ministriesTeaching the Bible and helping teenagers and young adults grow as disciples of JesusRecruiting, training,
equipping and caring for volunteer leadersDeveloping clear pathways from SRE in local high schools and community contact into youthministry and Sunday churchHelping young people transition well from youth ministry into young-adult and whole-church lifeBuilding strong relationships with young people, young adults and their familiesEnsuring that youth and young-adult ministries operate in accordance with Protected MinistryrequirementsDeveloping an outward-looking culture that welcomes and reaches those who do not yet knowJesusAs a member of the wider ministry team, the Assistant Minister will also:Preach regularly across our Sunday servicesParticipate in service leading and other aspects of public ministryProvide general pastoral care to members of the church and communityHelp identify, train and release people into ministry and leadershipContribute to church-wide evangelism, discipleship and strategic planningShare in the general responsibilities of parish ministryAbout youWe would love to hear from someone who:Has a mature Christian faith and character shaped by the grace of JesusIs committed to the authority of Scripture and Reformed evangelical ministry within the AnglicanDiocese of SydneyIs a faithful, clear and engaging Bible teacherHas a genuine love for teenagers and young adultsCan relate well to young people, parents,
volunteer leaders and people across different generationsHas experience leading youth, young-adult or comparable ministriesCan develop ministry through other people, rather than simply doing ministry personallyDemonstrates pastoral wisdom, emotional maturity and appropriate boundariesWorks collaboratively, communicates openly and can serve faithfully under the leadership of the Senior MinisterShows initiative while remaining accountableIs organised, dependable and able to manage competing ministry responsibilitiesHas completed recognised theological trainingOrdination is preferred but not essential.
The successful applicant will need to be eligible for licensing or authorisation within the Anglican Diocese of Sydney and meet all diocesan Safe Ministry requirements.Why TOMS?
