About the role
We are currently seeking self‐driven commercial, TMT, data privacy and procurement lawyers (4+ PQE) for opportunities with our clients who have experience in one or more of the following:
commercial transactions;
technology/IT agreements (e.g. software as service agreements, data/software licenses, software development agreements, client/vendor cloud computing arrangements);
outsourcing and procurement agreements;
eCommerce;
contract management;
advising on data protection, privacy, and cybersecurity matters, including in relation to the GDPR, CCPA, and/or Australian privacy law;
advising on international data transfers;
assisting on the privacy, cybersecurity, and data protection compliance elements of M&A; transactions;
managing third party data processor and supplier arrangements; and
preparing for and responding to cybersecurity incidents.
Candidates would ideally be based in Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne, however Perth or remote working arrangements within Recent South Wales, the ACT, Queensland, Western Australia and Victoria may also be considered.
Examples of opportunities
An 18-month, full time role for a mid‐senior lawyer with an investment bank in Sydney, advising on BAU technology contracting, regulatory compliance and employment;
A 12-month,
full time role for a senior lawyer with a telecommunication company in Melbourne, advising on telecommunication regulation;
A 12-month, full time role for a junior‐mid level lawyer with an online platform in Sydney, providing commercial legal support advising on technology contracts, vendor and customer terms and conditions, services agreements, privacy and data matters and consumer and competition law.
Qualifications
Have the right to work and reside in Australia
Be qualified to practice in Australia and have an unrestricted (unsupervised) practicing certificate or the ability to obtain the same
Have a minimum of 4 years' post‐qualification experience within a law firm akin to A&O; Shearman and/or ranked top tier in your area of expertise
Have a willingness to engage with Peerpoint as a casual employee or via an Independent Legal Practice
Have strong technical knowledge and ideally recent Australian experience (although the latter is not strictly necessary)
Be a self‐starter with a commitment to building a career as a consultant and a drive to achieve at a high level whilst working as a consultant
Be adept at leading or working within complex multi‐functional, multi‐national project environments, or open to working in the same
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface at all levels, building strong relationships internally and externally
Be client service‐focused, with exemplary client service ethic and commitment
Have strong commercial/business acumen
Be resilient, adaptable, autonomous and highly credible
Have advanced organisational skills and diplomacy
