About the Role:
The
Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer
(CLO) is an integral member of the Social, Emotional and Wellbeing (SEWB) Team with a focus to support and improve outcomes for Aboriginal communities, in accordance with the community-endorsed Regional Aboriginal Suicide Prevention Plans (Regional Plans ****).
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the 'community voice' is the core influencer of the CLO duties with respect to the types of community preferred activities implemented.
Harness community support as a channel to align with or communicate appropriate messages across a service region or area.
Develop and deliver activities or events with suicide prevention messages or themes relating to, Prevention, Intervention and Postvention.
Develop and facilitate public education activities.
Develop and implement activities in conjunction with other key stakeholders.
Promote a positive safety culture within their areas by demonstrating a positive commitment to Work Health and Safety.

What we're looking for | SELECTION CRITERIA
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander pursuant to Section 5OD of the Equal Opportunity Act
Certificate IV or Diploma in Mental Health
Genuine interest in working in the field of Aboriginal Community Suicide
(a)Prevention;
(b)Intervention; and
(c) Postvention
Commitment to the principles and mission of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs)
Demonstrated experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Proven ability to work with a range of stakeholders.
Desirable:
Previous employment in an Aboriginal Health related role or within Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities.
Current First Aid Certificate.
Completion of
Mental Health First Aid
Certificate and/or willingness to obtain.
Pre-Requisites:
Successful Criminal Record Screening Clearance
Valid Working with Children Check
Current Western Australian C or C-A Class Driver's License.
Successful Pre-Employment Health Assessment

Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service (DYHS) was established in **** and is the largest Aboriginal community-controlled health service provider in Western Australia, providing care to over 20,000 Aboriginal patients across four clinics in East Perth, Mirrabooka, Maddington and Midland.
Our staff enable the delivery of culturally responsive primary health services, focusing on prevention, early intervention, comprehensive care and care coordination including chronic disease management.
