Scenic World is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to play a critical role in the engineering, security & continuous evolution of our core technology platforms.
This is a hands‐on, technically deep role suited to someone who enjoys designing robust systems, improving security posture & ensuring technology enables great frontline & guest experiences.
Operating within a 7‐day, revenue‐critical attraction environment, this role goes beyond day‐to‐day administration.
You will be accountable for how systems are designed, integrated, secured & improved over time, ensuring our technology environment is resilient, scalable & practical for operations.
**Please note that this role is based full time, onsite at Scenic World in Katoomba.
This is not a hybrid role.

Reporting to the Head of IT, the Systems Administrator is responsible for engineering & continuously improving Scenic World's core platforms, infrastructure, identity services & security controls.
You will work closely with stakeholders across the business & IT teams within the broader group to ensure systems support operational uptime, security & future growth.
Key focus areas include Microsoft 365, identity & access management, endpoint security, networking, backup & disaster recovery & security framework alignment.
Key Responsibilities
Engineer, manage, and continuously improve core technology platforms including:
Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams)
Endpoint management, patching, and device security
Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
Design systems that are secure by default, resilient, and aligned to operational realities.




Engineer and maintain identity and access controls, including:
User lifecycle automation
Privileged access models
Guest and cross‐tenant access (where applicable)
Design and implement security controls aligned to recognised frameworks (e.g. Essential 8, ISO *****).
Analyse vulnerabilities and engineer remediation strategies.
Act as a key contributor during security incidents, investigations, and post‐incident improvements.
Engineer and support network environments for:
Corporate users
Operational systems (POS, CCTV, access control)
Guest and event connectivity
Develop and maintain technical standards, system documentation, and runbooks.
Support audits through robust system design, documentation, and evidence.
Assist the Head of IT with software and hardware roadmaps aligned to business needs and asset renewal.
Collaborate with IT teams across group businesses and support group‐level IT initiatives as required.
Actively contribute to a positive, collaborative work culture.
Participate in ongoing technical, cultural, and business development.
About You
You are a confident Systems Administrator who enjoys designing & improving platforms rather than simply maintaining them.
You bring a security‐first mindset, strong problem‐solving skills & the ability to work across complex or evolving environments.




Essential experience & skills:
Demonstrated experience in a Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or similar role.
Strong hands‐on experience engineering Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environments.
Proven ability to design, secure, and continually improve identity and endpoint platforms.
Solid understanding of networking concepts and security controls.
Experience working in environments where uptime and security have a direct business impact.
Clear communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‐technical stakeholders.
Desirable:
Experience in hospitality, attractions, retail, or other operationally intensive environments.
Exposure to security frameworks such as Essential 8 or ISO *****.
Experience in hybrid AD environments.
Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and incident response engineering.
Project management experience.
Relevant Microsoft, security, or infrastructure certifications.
