About Alt-Tech:
Alt-Tech is a well known providor of off-grid power solutions, and we're now building out the technical capability for in house manufacturing.
We're looking for a hands-on electrical tradesperson to assemble, wire, test, and support off-grid power systems.
This role suits someone who enjoys workshop-based build work, system assembly, and fault-finding.
It is not a construction site role.
Alt-Tech is a growing network of retail and solutions outlets specialising in practical, reliable sustainable power systems.
We design and assemble off-grid setups using solar, batteries, pumps, inverters, and repurposed technology, with circularity at the core of our approach.
Our customers include farmers, rural properties, caravanners, homeowners, and small businesses.
The work is varied, hands-on, and focused on building systems that actually perform in the field.
The Role:
This is a technical, build-focused position.
Your primary responsibility is to turn designs and concepts into clean, functional electrical systems, either as standard products or custom customer solutions.
You'll work mainly in the workshop and collaborate closely with sales and technical staff to deliver complete, tested systems.

Key Responsibilities:
Assemble and wire switchboards and low-voltage electrical systems
Build off-grid power systems including inverters, batteries, solar, and pumps
Work confidently with DC systems and energy storage components
Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and system layouts
Test and fault-find completed systems
Assist with custom builds and one-off customer solutions
Maintain workshop standards, tools, and build documentation
Support commissioning work when required
Maintain currency with Australian electrical standards and relevant regulations, and apply them to all builds and installations
Provide practical feedback to improve standard builds and product designs
What You Bring:
Trade qualification as an Electrical Fitter, Switchboard Mechanic, or Automotive Electrician
Solid experience assembling and wiring electrical panels or systems
Comfortable working with low-voltage AC and DC systems
Ability to read schematics and work independently from drawings
Practical, problem-solving mindset with strong fault-finding skills
High attention to detail and pride in neat, secure workmanship
Current Australian driver's licence
Experience with solar, batteries, off-grid systems, or pumps is highly regarded but not essential
