The Position
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Payroll Manager is responsible for efficient and accurate delivery of company payroll, regulatory compliance and related payments.
We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager, who can bring expertise and fresh perspectives to our Finance department.
As the Payroll Manager you will supervise day to day work of the Payroll Officers and Administrators, mentor developing team members and elevate capability across the team.
This position is fitting for a detail oriented adaptable professional, who is passionate about empowering team members and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all pay-runs including fortnightly and ad hoc pay cycles, ensuring accuracy of information and timeliness of completion
Oversee timesheet approvals across the organisation
Supervise the day-to-day work of the payroll team, reviewing pay runs and other key deliverables prior to finalisation
Act as a point of contact for any escalations from the payroll team
Evaluate the performance of the payroll team, providing timely, objective feedback and identifying and supporting learning and development opportunities
Review and lodge all payroll related statutory obligations including tax, superannuation and workers compensation
Review and lodge required Payroll Tax reconciliations, whilst proactively monitoring and meeting requirements
Understand and interpret employment contracts
Understand, interpret and apply relevant industrial instruments such as the NES and Modern Awards
Develop strong internal and external relationships with key stakeholders
Manage, investigate and resolve staff pay disputes.
Prepare the balance sheet reconciliations for key payroll accounts and investigate any differences.
Provide information for workers compensation payments (minimal)
Collaborate with other areas of the business to identify, design and where appropriate, implement changes to ensure an optimised employee experience

Our Ideal Candidate
Minimum 5 years' experience in payroll processing (preferably in Private Sector)
Minimum Certificate IV in Payroll Administration (or similar).
Accounting P&L; Advanced
General Accounting Principles & Legislation Intermediate
Employment Legislation: Intermediate
Microsoft Office Suite: Intermediate
Accounting Package: Intermediate (Pronto preferred)
Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret and apply legislation.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions to drive an optimised employee experience
Proven ability to manage small teams and provide mentoring and support to Payroll Officers.
Highly developed communication skills, time management and organisational skills.
Meticulous attention to detail and data accuracy.
Ability to work in a business undergoing significant transformation
Ability to work autonomously and flexibly, making commercially sound decisions as appropriate to the duties assigned by the Chief Financial Officer
