Due to continued growth in wharf volumes, we are seeking a Cartage Coordinator to support the day-to-day planning and coordination of wharf cartage operations.About the RoleReporting to the Wharf Logistics Manager, the Cartage Coordinator assists with the planning, coordination and administration of container deliveries and collections across Melbourne wharves and customer sites.
The role works closely with fleet controllers, wharf time slotters, customers and internal departments to ensure container movements are completed safely, efficiently and on time.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with daily planning and coordination of wharf cartage operationsCoordinate container collections, deliveries and de-hires across Melbourne wharves and depotsMonitor fleet utilisation, wharf time slots,



customer requirements and operational prioritiesCommunicate with customers regarding delivery schedules, delays, container availability and job updatesRespond to operational changes, wharf delays and customer requests in a quick‐paced environmentMaintain accurate job records, operational notes and charging information in transport systemsUse systems including OneStop, CargoWise and internal job management softwareMonitor free‐time compliance and assist in minimising demurrage and detention costsCoordinate with Biosecurity, Warehousing and other departments where requiredSupport compliance with Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management and safety requirementsEscalate operational, safety or compliance issues promptly to managementUnderstanding of HVNL requirements, routing constraints and approved heavy vehicle routes when coordinating container movementsSkills and ExperienceEssentialExperience in transport, logistics, wharf cartage or container operationsExperience using OneStop and CargoWiseStrong computer and administrative skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and ExcelExcellent communication and customer service skillsStrong organisational skills and attention to detailAbility to manage competing priorities in a time‐sensitive environmentUnderstanding of wharf operations, free‐time requirements and container de‐hire processesCommitment to workplace safety and Chain of Responsibility obligationsDesirablePrevious wharf cartage or container transport experienceExperience assisting fleet controllers or transport plannersUnderstanding of Biosecurity, customs and port documentation requirementsKnowledge of Melbourne wharf and depot operationsAbout YouYou are organised, reliable and able to remain calm under operational pressure.
