About the role
Mt Magnet Drilling is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented and "hands-on"
Purchasing, Stores and Inventory Manager / Storesperson
to join our team in Wangara, Western Australia.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, this position is responsible for managing the company's purchasing, warehousing and inventory functions.
The role is critical to ensuring materials, equipment and supplies are procured, received, stored and dispatched efficiently, while maintaining appropriate stock levels, accurate records and effective inventory controls.
This is a practical management position that combines purchasing and administrative responsibilities with day-to-day stores and warehouse duties.
The position would suit an experienced purchasing or stores professional who has previously worked under a Purchasing or Stores Manager and is now ready to progress into a more senior role with greater responsibility and management accountability.
The successful candidate must also be prepared to remain actively involved in hands-on warehouse and stores operations.
Key responsibilities
Manage day-to-day purchasing and procurement activities, including ordering materials, equipment and supplies.
Coordinate the receipt of incoming stock and the timely dispatch of outgoing orders.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support operational requirements while minimising excess stock and storage costs.
Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular stocktakes and audits to ensure data integrity and accountability.
Undertake hands-on stores and warehouse duties, including receiving, inspecting, storing, picking, packing, palletising and dispatching stock.
Coordinate the dispatch of materials and equipment to remote sites and other operational locations.




Implement and maintain effective inventory control systems and procedures to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
Develop and maintain effective supplier relationships, monitor delivery performance and resolve supply-chain issues.
Supervise and support stores personnel, including allocating work and maintaining appropriate performance and safety standards.
Ensure all stores and warehouse activities comply with relevant health, safety and environmental requirements, including Chain of Responsibility obligations.
Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings, improved purchasing outcomes and more efficient inventory processes.
Liaise with field personnel, managers, contractors and suppliers to ensure operational requirements are met.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
At least three years' hands-on experience across purchasing, procurement, inventory management and stores or warehouse operations.
Experience within exploration drilling, or a related industry, is highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience managing suppliers and maintaining effective supplier relationships.
Strong knowledge of inventory management systems, stock control and warehouse operations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and MYOB.
Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements relevant to stores and warehouse operations, including Chain of Responsibility requirements.




Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with field personnel, managers, contractors and suppliers.
A current C Class driver's licence.
(HR driver's licence would be highly regarded).
A current High Risk Work Licence for forklift operation.

NOTES: The position will generally involve approximately
40 to 50 hours per week
, with indicative working hours of
6.00 am to 4.00 pm, Monday to Friday

Occasional work outside normal hours, including weekends or public holidays, may be required to meet operational needs; however, this is not expected to occur regularly (expected: once to twice a year if at all).
Pre-employment requirements
The successful candidate will be required to:
Provide a National Police Clearance issued within the previous six months.
Complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
Complete a functional fitness assessment.
Undertake drug and alcohol screening.
