IT Operations - Internal Systems & InfrastructureBox Advisory Services is a boutique Sydney-based accounting and advisory firm, founded in ****, with a team of around 40 across Sydney and offshore.
We help SME clients across tax, compliance, CFO/virtual CFO advisory, property structuring, and bookkeeping.

As we scale, we're bringing IT operations in-house and building the internal function that will support the firm through its next phase of growth.About the roleWe're transitioning away from our external MSP and need someone to own IT operations end to end for a ~50-endpoint Microsoft 365 environment.
This is a hands-on role covering identity, endpoints, security, backup, cloud, telephony, vendor management, and end-user support — effectively absorbing our MSP's full scope, plus the strategic ownership that comes with being an internal hire.You'll be the firm's sole IT point of contact, working closely with leadership to validate, document, and improve our environment as we move off external support.Key responsibilitiesMicrosoft 365, identity & endpointsAdminister Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams; own user lifecycle, conditional access, MFA, and group/role managementRun the Intune and Autopilot estate across ~50 endpoints: enrolment, compliance,



configuration profiles, app deployment, and Windows Update ringsManage joiner-mover-leaver processes end to end, including device provisioning, retirement, and data preservationSecurity & backupOperate our security stack (EDR, email security, Microsoft Defender); triage alerts, investigate incidents, and drive remediationOwn backup posture across Microsoft 365 and infrastructure; monitor jobs, test restores, and maintain a documented DR/BCP planMaintain security documentation aligned to the Essential Eight (or equivalent); support audit and compliance requestsCloud, network & telephonyAdminister existing Azure and/or AWS workloads: IAM, networking, monitoring, cost, and security baselinesMaintain office network and Wi-Fi; coordinate ISP and carrier issuesAdminister our cloud PBX/VoIP platform (Teams Phone or equivalent): users, call routing, numbers, and vendor liaisonSupport, vendors & governanceAct as the IT point of contact for staff, with clear SLAs and ticket hygiene; maintain a lightweight internal knowledge baseManage IT vendors and resellers (Microsoft CSP, hardware, security, SaaS); maintain a single licence register, manage renewals, and benchmark spendMaintain core IT documentation: network diagrams, runbooks, asset register,



and internal policiesReport monthly on tickets, security posture, backup health, and spendWhat you'll bringRequired3+ years hands-on experience in IT operations, sysadmin, or MSP engineering in a Microsoft-centric environmentProduction experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune/Autopilot, and Defender (or equivalent EDR/email security)Working knowledge of Azure or AWS at an operational level (IAM, networking, cost, monitoring)Solid networking fundamentals, backup operations, and vendor/license management experienceStrong written communication and a service mindset — comfortable being the sole IT point of contactFull Australian working rights, and able to be in office in our Sydney office as requiredHighly regardedPrior MSP experience across multiple SME clientsMicrosoft certifications (MS-102, AZ-104, SC-200, MD-102) or AWS equivalentsPowerShell scripting for routine automationExperience standing up an internal IT function while transitioning away from an external MSPFamiliarity with the Essential Eight, ISO *****, or SOC 2What success looks like in your first 90 daysFull handover from the outgoing MSP completed and documentedTenant, endpoint, and security baselines validated, with any gaps closedBackup and restore testing running on a documented scheduleLicence register cleaned up and the next renewal cycle optimisedWhat we offerSalary range - $95,000 - $110,000 + super, depending on experienceThe opportunity to build an internal IT function from the ground up, with real ownership and autonomyA close-knit, growing firm where your work has direct visibility with leadership
