Due to a strong pipeline of capital and automation projects, we are seeking an Automation Projects Engineer to join our team and lead project delivery across multiple sites.
The Role
Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for end-to-end project delivery, ensuring automation projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
This role is strongly focused on project management, coordination, and delivery, rather than pure programming.
Key Responsibilities
Leading automation projects from concept through to commissioning
Defining scope, developing functional specifications, and aligning stakeholders
Managing project timelines, budgets, risks, and deliverables
Coordinating internal teams, contractors, and system integrators
Overseeing design, build, and implementation of automation systems
Ensuring compliance with safety-in-design principles and site standards
Supporting commissioning activities and ensuring successful project handover
Driving communication across stakeholders and providing clear project reporting
Identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement
Supporting feasibility studies and business case development
What You Will Bring
Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics,
or related Engineering discipline
Experience in automation, controls, or project delivery environments
Proven ability to deliver projects from concept through to completion
Strong organisational, planning, and stakeholder management skills
Understanding of industrial automation systems and manufacturing environments
Ability to manage contractors and system integrators effectively
Solid problem-solving and decision-making capability
Electrical licence (A-grade or restricted) advantageous
Experience working with PLC/SCADA systems (Rockwell, Allen-Bradley, Omron, etc.) is desirable
Willingness to travel occasionally
