We're building a solid, focused buying team and this role offers clear scope, great mentorship and real commercial ownership from day one.You'll be buying across toy categories, working with local Australian brands and distributors, and contributing to ranging decisions that directly affect our 58 stores and online channel.WHAT YOU'LL DOManage a portfolio of toy categories end-to-end — from range planning and supplier negotiation through to order placement and in-store executionBuild and maintain strong relationships with local distributors and suppliersContribute to seasonal range reviews, open-to-buy management and promotional planningAnalyse sell-through data and use insights to make smart ranging and pricing decisionsWork closely with the Head of Buying on product and range opportunitiesCollaborate with marketing,



inventory and store teams to bring ranges to lifeStay across market trends, competitor activity and trade show intel to keep our range fresh and competitiveWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR3–5 years buying, assistant buying or category management experience in retailExperience across toys, hardgoods, gifts, homewares or general merchandise — toy experience highly regardedStrong commercial acumen — confident negotiating, reading data and making range callsSolid understanding of retail buying fundamentals: OTB, margin, sell-through, supplier termsExcellent supplier relationship and communication skillsHighly organised, deadline-driven and comfortable managing multiple categories simultaneouslyA genuine love of product — you get excited about what goes on the shelfExperience with product compliance regulations for children's products (Australian standards, safety certifications)Familiarity with children's products, educational toys or specialty retailExposure to product development or packaging processesExperience with buying systems or ERP platforms — we use Business Central and PhocasWHY KIDSTUFFReal ownership from day one — genuine commercial responsibility, not just support for a senior buyerA category you can be proud of — toys that educate, inspire and spark imaginationA great team — small, experienced and collaborativeRoom to grow — a structured buying team with clear pathways as the business developsCompetitive salary commensurate with experience
