We are looking for the right candidates to take on the role of Marine Cook.
This is a casual position, with the basic operating profile of 8 crew on a 21-day even time roster.
These vessels operate out of Darwin, with local and FIFO roles available.
Position Overview:
The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals for crew and passengers onboard the vessel.
This role includes managing galley operations, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring compliance with maritime safety and food handling regulations.
The Cook plays a vital role in crew wellbeing and contributes to the smooth operation of the vessel.
Key Accountabilities:
Plan, prepare, and serve meals in accordance with dietary requirements and voyage duration
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the galley and food storage areas
Monitor food inventory and manage stock rotation to minimise waste
Ensure compliance with AMSA regulations, including Marine Order 70 and STCW standards
Apply safe food handling practices and adhere to health and safety protocols
Assist in provisioning and loading supplies during port calls




Maintain records of meals served, inventory used, and hygiene checks
Support environmental protection practices, including waste segregation and disposal.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
Essential
Must be an Australian Citizen and checkable background to obtain a baseline security clearance
Marine Cook Certificate of Proficiency issued by AMSA
Completion of an AMSA-approved cookery course, such as:
MAR**** Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Marine Cookery), or
SIT***** Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, or
Equivalent training recognised by AMSA
Valid Certificate of Medical Fitness (AMSA Approved)
Completion of STCW Short Courses:
Basic Safety Training
Fire prevention and fire fighting
First Aid
Strong organisational and time management skills
Desirable
Ability to work independently in confined and remote environments
Prior experience working on smaller vessels
