About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Drainer to join our growing team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing underground drainage systems for a variety of civil construction projects.
This role requires someone with strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
As a Drainer, you will:
· Install, maintain, repair and test underground stormwater, sewerage and drainage systems in accordance with engineering plans and specifications.
· Read and interpret construction drawings, site plans and project specifications to determine drainage layouts and installation requirements.
· Excavate trenches and prepare ground conditions for the installation of drainage pipelines and associated infrastructure.
· Lay and join drainage pipes, fittings, inspection pits, manholes and associated drainage components.
· Ensure correct alignment, grading and bedding of drainage systems to facilitate effective water flow.
· Carry out testing, inspection and fault identification of drainage systems and perform necessary repairs.




· Operate and work safely around excavation and construction equipment while coordinating with plant operators and other trades.
· Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, workplace health and safety requirements, and environmental regulations.
· Inspect completed installations to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with project specifications.
· Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a safe, clean and serviceable condition.
· Liaise with supervisors, engineers and project teams to ensure projects are completed efficiently and within required timeframes.
Skills & Attributes
· Certificate III or Certificate IV in Civil Construction, Drainage, Plumbing or a related trade qualification is preferred.
· Minimum 1–2 years of relevant full time experience as a Drainer or in a similar civil construction role.
· Sound knowledge of underground drainage systems, stormwater, sewerage and civil construction practices.
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and construction plans.
· Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
· Excellent problem-solving, communication and organisational skills.
· Current White Card is essential.
Relevant machinery tickets and driver's licence will be highly regarded.
Job Type
· Permanent Full-Time
Salary
· $90,000 – $100,000 per annum + Superannuation
Working Hours
· Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and overtime where required to meet project schedules.
