We'll provide paid training, nationally recognised qualifications and the support you need to succeed.
About the opportunity
Every shift contributes to the safe and respectful operation of Western Australia's justice system.
As a Custody Officer, you'll help ensure the safety and wellbeing of people in custody while supporting court operations across the Kimberley.
What's in it for you?
Fully paid training in Perth (5 weeks), with flights and accommodation provided
Fully funded Certificate III in Correctional Practice / Custodial Management
High Security Permit issued by the WA Department of Justice upon successful completion
$***** per hour during training
$***** per hour once qualified
$***** per hour after 12 months and successful completion of your Certificate III
Regional Allowance of up to $10,189 per year, paid fortnightly
Guaranteed minimum hours (where applicable)
Overtime opportunities and applicable penalty rates
Additional allowances for eligible shifts and duties
Five weeks annual leave
Uniforms provided
Ongoing training, development and long-term career opportunities
What you'll be doing
Supervising detainees in court custody areas
Escorting people to medical appointments and hospitals
Transporting people between courts and correctional facilities
Maintaining security during court proceedings
Conducting welfare checks and ensuring duty of care
Completing reports and operational documentation
Who we're looking for
We're looking for calm, respectful and reliable people who communicate well,
work well as part of a team and remain composed under pressure.
Experience in security, healthcare, community services, emergency services, corrections, transport or customer-facing roles is highly regarded, but not essential.
Full training is provided.
What you'll need
Be based in Broome or Kununurra, or already committed to relocating there independently
Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
Be available to attend 5 weeks of paid training in Perth
Commit to a minimum of 12 months of employment
Successfully complete a National Police Check, Fit2Work screening, Department of Justice Integrity Assessment, and a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
