About the role
The
Senior Compliance Officer
role is critical to the implementation and delivery of new gambling legislation aimed at preventing harm to members of the Australian community.
You will lead significant investigations into potential non-compliance with legislation about gambling advertising, illegal gambling services and Betstop - the National Self-Exclusion Register.
As a Senior Compliance Officer, you will work with a considerable degree of independence.
You will be an productive and confident leader, focused on supervising and mentoring others in driving outcomes and high performance, while promoting a respectful, supportive and value-driven workplace.
The EL1 Senior Compliance Officer will also engage in complex problem-solving and issues management and coordinate sensitive projects that impact on outcomes for the agency.
In this role you will:
lead the development of administrative arrangements to administer new gambling regulatory powers, including standard operating procedures and compliance strategies
review and streamline gambling investigations, compliance and enforcement processes
provide in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative and administrative frameworks, government decision-making processes and agency guidelines and regulations
lead the interpretation and application of legislation and regulatory frameworks to inform complex investigation decisions and advice and compliance and enforcement actions
communicate and make decisions that are based on professional judgement, evaluating risks and in the context of a complex and changing environment




provide high-quality and timely written and verbal advice to a broad range of internal and external parties, including ACMA Authority members, senior executive officers and decision makers
prepare and present briefs and reports for a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives, government, industry groups, state and territory regulators, consumer advocates and members of the public
demonstrate initiative, problem-solving, and strong organisational skills, including the ability to effectively prioritise to meet deadlines, manage competing tasks and deliver against corporate priorities and legislative obligations
supervise and manage staff, including providing feedback, direction and taking responsibility for team goals and outcomes
play a leadership role in the team, supporting development and contributing to the management of the section and the branch.
Our ideal candidate
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Compliance Officer who has:
demonstrated ability in developing administrative procedures and business processes for the implementation of new legislation or programs
the ability to interpret legislation and apply regulatory frameworks in conducting complex investigations and undertaking compliance and enforcement actions
excellent oral and written communications skills, including in preparing well-reasoned written reports and providing sound verbal advice to internal and external stakeholders
demonstrated ability to manage competing tasks to meet deadlines and deliver against corporate priorities and legislative obligations
strong supervisory and staff management skills, including in providing feedback and taking responsibility for team goals and outcomes.
