Telecommunications Cabling Technician - Fibre to the HomeWe are seeking applicants who are interested in starting or continuing their careers as a Telecommunications Cabling Technician - Fibre to the Home, who is ready to join the team at Bayside Technologies Pty Ltd.
This is a full-time position based in West Melbourne, VIC ****.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in the private fibre network we work within.
Your job will include installing, and maintaining fibre optic cabling infrastructure that connects homes to high-speed broadband networks.
You will be responsible for ensuring the reliable delivery of telecommunications services to our customers, working both in the field and potentially in controlled environments on other projects.
This position is integral to our mission of expanding and maintaining modern telecommunications infrastructure across the region.Please note: whilst experience is an advantage, this role is within a private network and therefore training is required to bring any person, experienced or not, up to the required level of expertise.
We are willing to train the right person with the right attitude and skills to fulfill this role, even if you have no experience in this industry.Key responsibilitiesInstall, test, and commission fibre optic cabling systems in residential propertiesConduct fault diagnosis and troubleshooting of telecommunications cabling networksMaintain detailed records of installations, test results on our apps.Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and telecommunications standardsCollaborate with other technicians and project teams to meet installation schedulesProvide technical information at the time of installation to customers regarding their fibre connectionsOperate and maintain specialised telecommunications testing and installation equipmentRespond promptly to changes in schedule as requiredWork directly under management and within an area team and wider team environment.Provide reliability through practices of excellent organization and time management.What we're looking forRecognised qualifications in telecommunications cabling or a related field is an advantageProven experience installing and maintaining fibre optic cabling systems is an advantageProficiency with fibre optic testing equipment is an advantageFibre splicing experience is an advantageStrong understanding of telecommunications standards and best practices is an advantageKnowledge of and interest in health and safety regulations is very important, we need people who care about health and safetyExcellent attention to detail and precision in technical work or equivalentThe ability to follow process every single timeExcellent organizational skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPhysical capability and interest to perform outdoor installation work in different weather conditionsValid manual driver's licenceStrong communication skills and a positive attitude, with good customer service orientation, as well as the ability to represent our company well on the fieldGreat problem-solving abilities, persistance and a willingness to learn new technologiesHonesty, integrity, tolerance, patience, inclusiveness and community spirit are celebrated hereWhat we offerAt Bayside Technologies Pty Ltd, we are committed to supporting our employees with a competitive package within the niche market we operate in and we supply a consistent, reliable, evolving and positive workplace culture.
Technicians start on Award wages as it takes time to retrain individuals to fit within our market.
From there an above Award tiered system exists per year of service up to three years.
All current Technicians are trained by a Team Leader or senior Technicians for a period of time until they reach the required competencies of the role.We provide a company vehicle for work purposes only, which could help your family save on fuel costs to and from work.
We offer a work phone, work laptop and all the major tools required for the position which come with the van and are replaced by the company.
We supply you with your first set of hand tools, which you can replace as necessary with your built in tool allowance as part of the Award.




Parts of your uniform are also supplied by the company which includes tops, shirts, jumpers, PPE, hats, sunscreen and rain jackets.
You are to provide your work trousers, steel capped safety boots, all in good condition.We recognise the importance of work-life balance and so we have built in a monthly RDO.
