Join us as we contribute to this significant transition in the energy sector.About The DivisionThe Finance Operations division provides a key foundation to ensuring sound financial decision making by AEMO leadership and is critical to AEMO maintaining strong support from stakeholders for its mission by ensuring the robustness of information underpinning revenue, cost management,
and funding requests.About The RoleThe Assistant Accountant - Projects will provide support to the Senior Financial Accountant and Manager of Accounting Operations to maintain a full trial balance.
There will be a focus on balance sheet reconciliations and month end reporting requirements.
The role will work closely with project teams while also supporting the broader finance function as required.Key responsibilities include preparing and posting manual journals, processing depreciation, and amortisation entries in Dynamics 365, preparing prepayment and accrual schedules in partnership with the business, and processing monthly depreciation and amortisation forecasts.
The role will also support the capitalisation of project assets, prepare balance sheet reconciliations, assist with project setup and administration changes in Dynamics 365, respond to ad hoc project queries, and liaise with the Projects Front Office on impairment reviews.This role will suit someone who enjoys building relationships, working both autonomously and as part of a team, and taking ownership in a project-driven setting where no two days are the same.Working within a collaborative team you will support project accounting activities across a high-volume environment partnering closely with Project Managers and Finance stakeholders.
This role will suit someone eager to learn, build strong relationships and contribute to the evolution of a transactional finance function focused on automation,
continuous improvement and adding greater value to the business.What You Will Bring To The RoleEducation/CertificatesDegree in Business Management, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related fieldIdeally Qualified/ part qualified member of an appropriate professional accounting body e.g. CA/CPA or international equivalent.Experience & KnowledgeStrong accounting or bookkeeping foundation with month-end reporting experienceUnderstanding of current accounting standards and project accounting practicesExperience in fixed asset and project-driven environments preferred.Advanced Excel skills with ability to analyse large volumes of data.Exposure to accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similarStrong communication, stakeholder engagement, and ability to work autonomously to meet deadlines.BenefitsIn return some of our benefits to youFlexible working: work from home, part time, job share, hybrid options, and additional leave optionsProfessional development via projects, industry networks, job rotation, study assistance and more.Give back with up to 4 days of volunteering leave per year.Reward your hard work with annual performance bonuses (subject to eligibility).
