Head of Legal, Retail Master Trust & Employer Products

We're looking for an experienced legal leader to join our team to provide strategic legal leadership across our retail Master Trust and employer superannuation products.
Reporting to the Managing Legal Counsel – Superannuation and Platforms, you'll have end-to-end ownership of legal risk across these products, partnering with Trustee Boards, Executive leaders and business stakeholders to deliver high quality legal support to ensure our products and trustees comply with relevant legal obligations and deliver positive member outcomes.
About the role
This is a senior leadership opportunity responsible for the legal oversight of our retail Master Trust and employer superannuation products.
You'll provide commercially focused legal advice across the full product lifecycle while supporting strategic initiatives, regulatory change and governance across one of Australia's leading superannuation businesses.
You'll also lead and develop a team of legal professionals, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you'll provide strategic legal advice across:
Product design, enhancements, successor fund transfers (SFTs), closures and ongoing product initiatives
Product Disclosure Statements (PDSs), Significant Event Notices (SENs), disclosure obligations and marketing communications
Design and Distribution Obligations (DDO) and Target Market Determinations (TMDs)
Regulatory change impacting retail Master Trust and employer superannuation products
Incident and breach triage, escalation and legal risk management
Default group insurance arrangements,



insurer negotiations, contract renewals and administration agreements
SPS 250 compliance and insurance governance
AFCA matters and member complaints
Trust law matters, family law matters and product funding initiatives
RSE Licence (RSEL) delegation policies and governance
Leading, mentoring and developing a high-performing legal team while driving capability across the function
About you
You're a commercially minded legal leader with deep expertise in superannuation law and a passion for partnering with the business to deliver practical, risk-based solutions.
You'll bring:
A Bachelor of Laws and current legal practising qualifications
10+ years' experience in a senior legal role within the superannuation or financial services sector
Robust expertise in trust law and the Australian superannuation regulatory framework
Extensive experience advising on legal issues affecting retail Master Trust and employer superannuation products
Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives and provide commercially pragmatic legal advice
Proven leadership experience, with a track record of developing and mentoring legal teams
Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation
Experience managing external legal advisers and third party stakeholders and negotiating complex commercial outcomes
The ability to balance competing priorities and deliver high-quality advice in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment
