About the roleThe fixed term 12-month full-time role of Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in the Palliative Care ward works within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to use skills and knowledge in leadership, management and clinical practice in consultation with a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal health in a patient-focused service.
You will be joining a high-performing and passionate team that truly believes in a patient-centric approach to care.HammondCare is a NSW Health-affiliated organisation all NSW Health transferrable entitlements will be recognised.Essence of the roleYou will be in charge of the unit,



team and all aspects of the healthcare environment and takes overall responsibility for the standard of nursing care and clinical practice that are evidence-based and reflect current practiceThe NUM is pivotal to the coordination of patient care, unit management and leadership of the professions of nursing to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and effective use of resourcesBe a clinical role model for all nurses working on the unitYou will manage complaints and critical incidents related to the service in conjunction with Director of NursingFacilitate patient flow to ensure timely admission, transfer and discharge of patientsActively participate in the development and maintenance of professional and clinical standards of practice of the nursing and administrative teamAct as a clinical resource person by assisting, advising and supporting all staff and students in all aspects of the performance of their dutiesParticipate in strategic and business planning for their serviceParticipate in budget planning,
