Activate warning lights and close the track in the event of an emergency.
Provide first aid support in the event of an accident or injury.
Report safety or maintenance concerns through the appropriate logbooks and directly to management.
Act as Race Starter during trials.
Support additional operational duties when required, including grounds maintenance and supervision of the equine pool.
Pitch in across the venue during busy racing periods, race days and the Darwin Cup Carnival.

Understand the importance of safety in a live racing and training environment.
Are confident communicating with riders, trainers and industry staff.
Are reliable, punctual and able to manage early morning starts.
Can stay calm and make practical decisions under pressure.
Take pride in maintaining a safe and professional track environment.
Are comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions.
Are flexible with hours, including weekends and peak racing periods.
Experience we are looking for
Ideally, you will have:
Experience with horses and thoroughbred racing.
A current manual driver's licence.
A First Aid Certificate, or the ability to obtain one.
Experience working in a racing, equine, farming, facilities, grounds or outdoor operations environment.
Solid attention to detail and a safety-first approach.
Good communication skills and the confidence to enforce rules when required.
Highly regarded, but not essential
The following would be an advantage:
Experience supervising morning track work or trials.
Race starter experience.
Experience in racing operations, stable operations or racecourse maintenance.
Knowledge of track safety procedures and racing industry environments.
Availability
This role involves early morning work, including 4:00am starts.
Weekend work, trials, race days and event work may be required.
Availability during the peak racing season from June to August is important, including the Darwin Cup Carnival period.
Please note that leave may not be approved during this busy period.
Why join us?
This is a chance to work in a hands-on racing role that is active, practical and important to the safe operation of the racecourse.
You will be part of the team that supports morning track work, trials, race meetings and one of Darwin's biggest sporting and social events.
If you understand racing, enjoy working with horses and take pride in creating a safe and professional track environment, we would like to hear from you.
