WHS Representative / Trades Assistant
Residential Position – Maningrida, NT
Stedmans Construction & Engineering (SCE) is a proudly Indigenous-owned construction company delivering residential, commercial, civil and maintenance projects throughout the Northern Territory.
Due to the commencement of several major residential and Commercial construction projects, we are seeking a proactive and safety-focused WHS Representative / Trades Assistant to join our growing team based in Maningrida, NT.
This is a residential role where your primary focus will be supporting the protected delivery of our projects by working closely with our Project Manager, Site Supervisor and construction crews to maintain high WHS standards across site.

The Role
Your primary responsibility will be assisting with the day-to-day implementation of our Workplace Health and Safety systems while providing practical support to our construction team when required.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting daily site safety inspectionsAssisting with site inductions and visitor inductionsLeading or assisting with daily pre-starts and toolbox meetingsMonitoring compliance with SWMS, JSAs and company WHS proceduresIdentifying,



reporting and assisting to rectify hazardsEnsuring PPE compliance across siteCompleting safety inspections, registers and site documentationAssisting with incident reporting and corrective actionsMaintaining safety signage, amenities and emergency equipmentLiaising with Project Managers, Site Supervisors and subcontractors on WHS mattersAssisting trades with general site duties when required
Essential Requirements
CPCCWHS**** – Apply WHS Requirements, Policies and Procedures in the Construction IndustryConstruction White CardCurrent Australian Driver LicenceExcellent communication and organisational skillsStrong understanding of safe work practicesAbility to work independently and within a team
Desirable
Certificate IV in Work Health and SafetyPrevious experience as a WHS Representative, Safety Officer or Site Safety CoordinatorExperience in residential or commercial constructionFirst Aid CertificateRemote construction experience

You lead by example, communicate well with people on site and aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves and help the team when required.
