Nursery Hand (Permanent Part-Time)About the RoleTannum Garden Centre is seeking a motivated and reliable Permanent Part-Time Nursery Hand to join our friendly team.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining nursery work with machinery operation, including using a skid steer to load sand, soil and mulch products, and driving an MR tip truck for local deliveries.
You'll work an average of 28 hours per week across four days (Tuesday to Friday), with Fridays typically being a half-day, providing an excellent work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities· Carry out daily watering and general plant care.
· Operate a skid steer to load bulk landscape products.
· Drive an MR tip truck for local customer deliveries.
· Assist with loading and unloading plant and stock deliveries.
· Maintain the health and presentation of a diverse range of nursery plants.
· Pot, transplant and propagate plants.
· Apply fertilisers and monitor plant growth and overall health.
· Identify and assist in treating common pests, diseases and plant health issues.
· Maintain a clean, safe and organised nursery and yard.
· Operate a forklift to unload trucks and move stock (where licensed).
· Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service and assist customers with plant and product enquiries.
· Assist with general retail duties, including operating the point-of-sale register when required.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you'll have:
· Experience in a plant nursery, horticulture, landscaping or gardening environment, with a genuine passion for plants.
· Experience operating machinery such as a skid steer, MR truck or forklift.




· A current Skid Steer (RII), MR Licence and Forklift Licence, or the willingness to obtain the required licences.
· A Certificate II in Horticulture (or currently working towards one) is highly regarded.
· A positive understanding of plant care and the ability to identify common plant health issues.
· Good physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual handling and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
· Excellent customer service skills, point-of-sale experience and a positive, team-focused attitude.
· The ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team environment.
Please NoteApplicants must have experience in at least one of the following areas:
· Plant nursery, horticulture or gardening; or
· Operating machinery such as a skid steer, MR truck or forklift.
We're happy to provide training in one of these areas, but not both.
