Position: Assistant SuperintendentReports To: Superintendent
Position Summary: This is a key position within the Golf Course Management Department.
Working directly with the Golf Course Superintendent to help develop a daily work schedule and coordinate the related activities and necessary equipment with the staff.
Responsible for training, supervision and reviewing of golf course employees along with supervision of construction projects and specific maintenance activities on the golf course and club grounds

Help promote player satisfaction through quality maintenance and communications.
Thoroughly assist in all safety training needs and procedures
Works with the Superintendent and other key staff members to constantly improve the golf course, club grounds, maintenance facility and all safety programs
Continues personal and professional Educational through attending self-development, training and Turf Conferences
Help schedule and supervise the daily operations of the Course Maintenance staff
Train, motivate and supervise the staff in a capable manner
Key Performance Areas1.
COURSE MAINTENANCE & PLANNING
To Assist the Superintendent in identifying the strategies and actions required to meet the Course Maintenance objectives
Assist the Golf Course Superintendent with recommendations for Staff, including performance, training, reviews and education.
Help plan, schedule and monitor all daily Maintenance operations including ensuring adequate staffing schedules for daily and weekly needs per Course Management Plan
Assist in establishing,



promoting and enforcing Environment and Work Health & Safety practices in accordance with Superintendent.
Ensure the cleanliness of the golf course equipment and maintenance facility
Ensure cleanliness of the Golf Course and Club Grounds, and any areas requiring attention are alerted to the Superintendent
Assist the Course Superintendent with record keeping for supplies, daily logs, application records, weather condition recording, and personnel records
Communicates in a skilled manner including to subordinates, management, staff, suppliers, as well as member and guests
Continue to expand knowledge in Turfgrass, course conditioning, course construction and reconstruction, use of chemicals, golf course and irrigation equipment.

COURSE OPERATIONS
To continuously improve and maintain the course in the highest quality condition by:
Maintaining knowledge of the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components used on Course
Ensuring a thorough understanding of Golf Course irrigation systems
Performing tasks that are necessary to keep maintenance facility and equipment clean, organised and secure on a daily basis.
Inspect all equipment and tools that are assigned to specific tasks and reports any deficiencies to the Superintendent or Turf Equipment Technician
Fill in to perform all functions and Golf Course maintenance activities as directed by the Superintendent.
Ensure that personal protective and Safety equipment is worn as prescribed and required
Perform irrigation repairs as required
Oversee Course repairs and ongoing Maintenance per Course Management Plan
