Summary:
The Canberra Southern Cross Club is one of Canberra's largest and most respected hospitality and entertainment organisations, offering exceptional dining, conferencing, events and community experiences across multiple venues.
We're looking for an experienced Sales and Events Manager to provide coaching, direction and support while working collaboratively with Operations, Marketing and other leaders to ensure every client enjoys an outstanding experience from initial enquiry through to event delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic sales plans to grow conferences, corporate events, weddings and private functions.
Achieve and exceed sales, revenue and profitability targets.
Identify recent business opportunities and build long-term partnerships.
Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Sales & Events team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and service excellence.
Manage sales forecasting, budgeting, reporting and performance.
Collaborate with Operations and Marketing to maximise venue utilisation and enhance the Club's presence.




Ensure exceptional client experiences that generate repeat business, referrals and outstanding customer feedback.
Represent the Club at networking and industry events to strengthen our reputation and grow our client base.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
Essential:
5+ years' senior sales and events leadership experience in hospitality, hotels or large venues.
Demonstrated achievement of significant sales and revenue targets.
Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
Strong commercial and financial acumen.
Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and reporting.
Excellent negotiation, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
Current RSA.
Desirable:
Degree or Diploma in Business, Hospitality, Marketing or Event Management.
Experience managing multi-site operations.
Existing corporate and government networks within Canberra.
Experience developing strategic sales plans and budgets.
