The Position
Scotch College is seeking a passionate, experienced and suitably qualified violin specialist to join our innovative and skilled Music Department on a casual basis.
We are looking for musicians with experience teaching boys across all year levels, from the early Junior School years through to Senior School.
Music Tutors inspire, guide, engage and motivate students in the study, practice and performance of music.
Working days and hours will be determined according to the needs of the College.
Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of theory, aural skills and musicianship, and the ability to teach these in an appropriate context.
They will also have recent experience teaching young musicians both individually and in ensembles.
Applicants must hold, at minimum, a Bachelor of Music and an AMus, LMus, LTCL or equivalent performance qualification.
Experience teaching ab-initio Junior School students within a string programme would be highly regarded.
Music at Scotch College is centred on developing a conservatory-style programme, with all three areas of the Music Faculty working together to uphold high standards of musicianship.

About you
Key selection criteria include:
· Bachelor of Music
· AMus or LTCL or equivalent highly desirable
· High performance level on the violin
· Studio or 1:1 musical instrument teaching experience
· A full understanding of and ability to teach musicianship (theory, aural and arranging)



in an appropriate context
· Ability to motivate and enthuse students
· Excellent communication skills
· Excellent organisational skills
· Professional presentation
· Ability to work as a member of a team
