The Catholic Archdiocese of Perth has 106 Parishes and 15 Agencies within its boundaries.
Each parish is led by a priest appointed by the Archbishop of Perth.
Agencies are managed by a Director/Coordinator and deliver a wide variety of ministries, including faith enrichment and formation, liturgy, disability support, Aboriginal outreach, marriage and family education services, homelessness support, justice and ecology education programs, and migrant and refugee services.
About The Agency - Archives & Information Governance Office
The Archives and Information Governance Office (AIGO) of the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth plays an important role in capturing, preserving and providing access to the documentary heritage and organisational memory of the Archdiocese.
The AIGO also has responsibility for the governance of Archdiocesan records and information.

What You Can Expect To Do
The Officer, Archives performs administrative support for the Director of AIGO (Archdiocesan Archivist) and assists with the maintenance of and access to the AIGO collection.
Key responsibilities
Archival Administration & Preservation
Support day-to-day administration of the Archdiocesan Archives in accordance with archival best practice, organisational policies, Canon Law, and relevant legislation.
Assist in the care, handling,
and preservation of archival and cultural heritage collections to support their long-term integrity.
Undertake cataloguing, classification, indexing, storage, and retrieval of archival materials in accordance with established systems and procedures.
Records Management & Compliance
Support compliance with privacy legislation, Canon Law, and records management standards through careful handling and administration of archival records.
Maintain accurate registers, indexes, databases, and finding aids to support governance, legal, canonical, and historical enquiries
Manage sensitive, confidential, and personal information with discretion, integrity, and professionalism at all times.
Access, Enquiries & Research Support
Respond to authorised internal and external enquiries relating to historical, sacramental, and governance records
Facilitate access to Archival records for authorised users
Assist researchers, clergy, staff and approved external stakeholders
Support research that contributes to the mission, history, and pastoral life of the Archdiocese, balancing access with ethical and legislative obligations.
Assist with the management of cultural heritage materials in alignment with relevant Church and skilled guidelines.
Digital Archives & Systems
Support digitalisation activities and projects as directed,
in collaboration with the Information Technology team.
Assist with the accurate uploading, indexing, and management of records within the Electronic Document and Records Management systems (Laserfiche), in line with established procedures.
Contribute to ensuring digital records are maintained accurately, securely, and in compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
At least a Certificate level of Archival Management, Library Science or a related field.
Knowledge of archival principles.

National Police Clearance
WA Driver's Licence
Desirable:
Bachelor's in Archival Management or related field.
Relevant experience in archives and records management, with experience.
Knowledge of digital preservation standards and practices
Personal qualities:
A willingness and capacity to support the Catholic ethos
A demonstrated "can-do" attitude and enthusiasm for the work involved in the role
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Attention to detail
A valid National Police Clearance, WA Driver's Licence, and proof of Right to Work in Australia required.
