With over 35 years experience in servicing local industry within metropolitan Melbourne, Inver Engineering has developed into a substantial and respected engineering firm.
With our clientele base primarily within the rail industry, we also apply our expertise to the steel, ports, oil & gas and manufacturing industries.
Based in Altona, we service the breadth of Australia.
Ongoing operational requirements and continuous workflow has resulted in opportunities to further expand our day shift operations and we now seek experienced andtrade qualified Mechanical Fitters (Fitter/Turner)to join our operations servicing rolling stock.
What you will do:
Working Hours ofMonday to Thursday 6am to 2:30pm, Friday 6am to 12pm
Your role will encompass a variety of different trade requirements.
From inspection, measurement, disassembly and assembly, install and testing of various rolling stock (train/tram) componentry through to undertaking overhauls and repairs on train bogies and wheel sets, train/tram gear boxes along with fitting and machining work on other Rail related components;
Those with previous operational experience in manual machining, primarily borers and lathes will be viewed favourably;
Strong hand and power tool use;
Precision measurement skills, working with fine tolerances;
Working within a diverse dynamic team environment;
Be responsible for the quality of your work.
Qualifications & Skills:
Applicants MUST have full Australian working rights.
Applicants who require and/or seeking sponsorship WILL NOT be considered.
Applicants MUST possess Australian recognised qualifications as a Fitter and Turner, Mechanical Fitter or Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade;
Previous experience in component overhauls and rebuilds ideally in rail, automotive, defence, manufacturing, aviation, or other like industries.
Perform mechanical related tasks such as overhaul, diagnostic maintenance,
strip and reassembly of mechanical equipment.
Use a range of precision measurement equipment, machinery, hand and power tools.
Strong comprehension skills, ability to complete compliance documents and follow OEM specs and ITP's (Inspection & Test Plans)

Previous rolling stock experience (desirable)

High-level problem-solving skills and ability to work as part of a dynamic team
Exceptional work ethic and ability to follow work procedures
Strong interpersonal skills and can-do attitude.
Desire to drive innovation and exceed expectation.
Valid Australian Driver's Licence
Full working rights within Australia.
Highly Regarded:
Extensive mechanical fitting experience
Valid High Risk Work Licence (preference for WP, DG, LF)
