PRIMARY DETAIL
Level A - Post Doctoral Fellow ($89,579 - $120,621) plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading.
Pro-rata rates apply for part time appointments
Level B - Research Fellow ($127,138 - $150,425) plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading.
Pro-rata rates apply for part-time appointments
Full-time or part-time, fixed-term position for 2 years with possibility of extension

The Centre for Health Systems and Safety Research (CHSSR) is expanding its team of applied health services researchers and is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow / Research Fellow with expertise in implementation science and the co-design and evaluation of health interventions.
The successful candidate will contribute to a portfolio of NHMRC and MRFF-funded research programs, working closely with the Director of the Centre.
A core project is a large-scale, multi-site national trial evaluating an intervention to reduce the use of a low-value nursing practice, aiming to optimise medication safety, nursing workflows and workloads to deliver safer care to children in hospital.
The role involves working with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, consumers, practicing clinicians in hospital settings and policy makers, using a diverse range of research methods.

The Centre for Health Systems and Safety Research conducts research to improve healthcare safety and quality through innovation, data-driven tools and lived-experience collaboration.
CHSSR is a leading Australian research centre focused on improving the safety, quality and efficiency of healthcare.
Led by Professor Johanna Westbrook, the Centre addresses critical challenges in health systems including technological complexity, patient safety risks and workforce pressures.
The Centre has expertise in assessing the impact of information technologies, electronic health records and decision support in supporting improved healthcare delivery and outcomes.
Research methods range from randomized controlled trial designs to direct observations of clinical work.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential (Level A & B)
A PhD in a relevant discipline (for example psychology, allied health, behavioural science, health services research)
Peer-reviewed publications
Demonstrable knowledge of implementation science frameworks and their application
Research experience in co‐designing and implementing health interventions designed to change clinical practice
Skills in mixed methods and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data




Capacity to work independently and engage policy makers and clinician partners in hospitals
Additional criteria for Research Fellow (in addition to essential criteria)
Track record in managing research projects and a small research team
Experience in measuring policy and practice change
Experience in preparing and securing research grants
Track record of leading research publications and presentations
