Associate / Senior Associate, Professional Indemnity
A highly regarded insurance litigation practice is continuing to grow and is looking to appoint an Associate or Senior Associate to join its Sydney team.
This opportunity offers exposure to a broad mix of defendant insurance matters, acting for insurers, insureds and corporate clients across professional indemnity, medical negligence and public and product liability claims.
The practice is known for handling technically challenging disputes and providing strategic advice from the earliest stages of a claim through to resolution.
Working alongside experienced practitioners, you will have genuine responsibility for managing matters, building strong client relationships and developing your advocacy and litigation skills in a collaborative and well-supported environment.
The Role
You will work across a wide-ranging portfolio of litigated and advisory matters, including:
Managing professional indemnity, medical negligence and general liability claims
Advising clients on indemnity, liability, quantum and litigation strategy
Reviewing evidence and preparing clear, commercially focused legal advice
Drafting pleadings, witness evidence, court documents and correspondence
Briefing and working closely with counsel and expert witnesses
Preparing matters for mediation, settlement conferences and hearings
Conducting advocacy where appropriate and appearing before relevant courts and tribunals




Building and maintaining strong relationships with insurer and corporate clients
Keeping abreast of legislative developments and emerging issues affecting the insurance market
About You
You are an insurance litigation lawyer with approximately 3-8 years' post-admission experience and a genuine interest in developing your practice within defendant insurance.
You will also bring:
Experience across professional indemnity, medical negligence, general liability or broader defendant insurance litigation
Confidence managing files with an appropriate level of autonomy
Strong analytical and drafting skills, with the ability to provide practical and commercially focused advice
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
A proactive approach to client service and matter management
The ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of your own matters
