About the team
The Information Governance Team has a proud history of servicing records and information management at Glen Eira City Council.
As part of the Digital and Technology Services Department, the team is focused on delivering key strategic outcomes that will see a transformation of the Council's information and management and records practices, moving beyond traditional approaches into a future defined by innovation, security and resilience.
About the role
The Information Governance Specialist will play a key role in the transformation of Glen Eira City Council's information management practices with a focus on innovative, secure and resilient approaches.
With support from leadership, the role will be responsible for introducing innovative practices and technologies that align with the Council's new Digital and Technology Strategy, ensuring information management becomes a dynamic contributor to organizational excellence and community value.
Other responsibilities include:
Provide technical and strategic information and records management advice, applying a future focused and innovative approach.
Provide subject matter expertise in relation to the Public Records Act ****, Information Privacy Act ****, Privacy and Data Protection Act **** including Public Records Office Victoria (PROV) and Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner (OVIC) standards.
Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of records management policies and procedures in accordance with relevant legislation, standards and best practice.
Support the Information Governance team to ensure the day-to-day records management services in accordance with the Information Governance policy, procedures, goals and objectives are carried out.
About you
As an experienced information management and governance specialist, you will have strong knowledge in records management legislation and standards, as well as demonstrated knowledge of Information Privacy Principles and Data Security Framework and Standards.
You will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills to provide guidance and support to staff and external stakeholders.
The following is also required:
Tertiary qualifications in information management, records management or related discipline.
Meet the criteria of Management / Specialist level as defined by National Archives of Australia (NAA) Information Management capability guide.
Demonstrated experience working with and administering paper and electronic records management systems.
Excellent customer service skills, able to identify customer needs and expectations and decide on appropriate action and respond accordingly.
Ability to exercise discretion and maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive, personal, confidential and protected information.
