Job description
As a fully owned subsidiary of Safran Electronics & Defense, Safran Electronics & Defense Australasia Pty Ltd (SEDA) delivers and supports various products including high-performance optronics and inertial navigation equipment.
Headquartered in Sydney, SEDA brings local expertise in the integration of optronics and navigation systems for the air, land, and naval platforms of the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces.
Reporting to the Head of Programs, the Senior Project Manager, will lead complex projects with strategic significance, ensuring successful project execution in line with company objectives.
This role is responsible for managing large, multi-year projects and representing the Head of Programs during key customer interactions, such as Mandated System Reviews (MSRs), Integrated Baseline Reviews (IBRs), and project kick-off meetings.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Demonstrating project management leadership in overseeing new product development projects.
Having prior experience and a proven track record in delivering complex electronics and software development projects (essential requirement).




Identifying and managing product development risks.
Managing international teams and handling DSTG as a client, including navigating access to authorised IP and data.
Managing complex subcontractor relationships, both locally and internationally.
Working with Commonwealth-based customers.
Demonstrating experience and ability to effectively manage the day-to-day activities of subcontractors and suppliers delivering:Electronics design work packages
Outsourced software development
Complex and miniaturised mechanical assembly design and fabrication
Applying iterative project management practices.
Demonstrating some experience with Agile project management methodology.
Applying Earned Value Management principles.
Candidate skills & requirements
To be successful in this role you must have:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or a related discipline.
Extensive experience managing complex and strategically significant ASDEFCON projects within the Defence industry is highly desirable.
Advanced proficiency in PMI methodologies, project scheduling, cost management, Estimate-To-Complete analyses, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
Must hold at least a baseline security vetting on employment commencement, and ability to obtain NV1.
