JobScout Pty Ltd are working to assist our client, Creative Developers Pty Ltd, trading as Goodyear Autocare, an established automotive business expanding its operations into North Queensland.
Operating under the Goodyear Autocare network, the business provides a full range of mechanical servicing, repair and tyre services to private, fleet and commercial customers, and has built its reputation on reliable workmanship and a high standard of customer care.
As the business establishes its Townsville workshop, our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic to join the team on a full-time, ongoing basis.
The role is workshop-based at Goodyear Autocare Garbutt, Garbutt QLD ****.
Responsibilities
Detecting and diagnosing faults in engines, transmissions, steering, braking, suspension, cooling and other mechanical systems using diagnostic equipment and road testing.
Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and examining parts for wear, damage and defects.
Repairing, adjusting and replacing worn or defective parts and assemblies, and reassembling components to manufacturer specifications.
Carrying out scheduled logbook servicing and preventative maintenance, including oil, filter, fluid and belt changes and safety inspections.
Testing and repairing electrical and electronic systems, including batteries, charging and starting systems, wiring, lighting and engine management systems.
Diagnosing and repairing electronic fuel injection systems and interpreting fault codes using workshop diagnostic scanning equipment.
Inspecting, servicing and replacing braking systems, steering and suspension components, tyres, wheels and wheel alignments as required.
Conducting road tests and final quality checks to confirm repairs have been completed correctly, and the vehicle is safe for return to the customer.
Preparing job records, service reports and parts documentation, and advising service staff and customers on repairs required and work completed.
Maintaining workshop tools, plant and equipment, and ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with manufacturer specifications, Australian Standards and work health and safety obligations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Hold a recognised trade qualification in Automotive Mechanical Technology (AQF Certificate III or equivalent, including at least two years of on-the-job training).
Have relevant minimum 1+ year post-qualification experience working as a Motor Mechanic in a workshop or dealership environment.
Have demonstrated experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and electronic vehicle systems.
Are competent in the use of workshop diagnostic and scanning equipment.
Hold a current and valid Australian driver's licence.
Have a sound understanding of workshop safety practices and manufacturer servicing requirements.
Have strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills and a methodical, detail-focused approach.
Are a team player who can communicate effectively with service advisors, workshop staff and customers.
Maintain a skilled attitude and a 'can do' approach in the workshop at all times.
